What would you call a 78' tall 81' wide grain bin for an grain elevator?
S-1 or U? If it is an S-1 does it have to be of Type 1B, if an U does it have to be of Type 1A?
This bin sits 21' from a 90' tall, 81' wide existing grain bin. In the railroad right of way, 61' from the railroad.

why does not the CBO oranization push for state wide building code adoption where no codes are in place or addopted?

Adam: I would call it an S1.
I'm not sure about the required type of construction. I would assume it's a fairly heavy gauge steel (Unrated, non-combustible, II-B?).

Joe: The State of Iowa does have a state-wide building code. I believe it is the 2009 IBC.
Here's a link to additional info: http://www.dps.state.ia.us/fm/building/PDFs/2009/SBC_2009_Update_12-18-09_2.pdf

Type of Construction Question
Existing, one story, 80,000 sq ft steel frame building w/ tilt up concrete exterior walls. The steel frame is unprotected. Sprinklered throughout per NFPA 13 Mixed occupancy Groups S-1 & B Unlimited area w/ minimum 60 ft. yards
Could this building be classified as Type III B? (Contractor would like to use non FRTW framing for interior office framing.)
