Is anyone permitting the installation of wind turbine generators? If so, are they listed? We recently had a submittal for a helix type wind turbine that will help to feed a commercial building. The turbine is not a listed piece of equipment, so we are asking for a field evaluation to be performed by a field evaluation services organization before we will approve it. So far this is the first submittal we have seen for a wind turbine. If anyone has had one installed in their jurisdiction I would be glad to hear how it was handled.
Does anyone know what edition of the NEC first required GFCI's for kitchen sinks and bathrooms in residences?
Would an outlet that is installed in the floor joist area of the basement (over 5.5 feet) serving only a sump pump be required to be Tamper Resistant?
We purchased Ideal SureTest Arc testers for each of the inspectors 3-4 years ago, but since then some of the Arc-Fault breakers have been updated and these testers will not work any more. Some breaker manufacturers indicate that the correct test is with the breaker's test button.
Please let me know if Arc-Fault breakers are required to be tested. And if you agree that they are, please describe how you are testing. Maybe we need to get some new equipment again. Is a license required to install a bath fan? Electrical, mechanical?
